What this is

This tool helps build German Sausage puzzles. A German Sausage puzzle is closed loop of alternating short words and long words where every pair of short words anagrams together to form the long word that sits between them.

1. Optionally load a custom wordlist

The ENABLE wordlist is loaded by default. At any time you can upload your own local .txt file that has one word per line. This is the wordlist the app searches for candidate words from that point.

2. Set your parameters

• Short word length — the min/max length allowed for each short word in the ring.
• Number of short words — the length of the ring (3–26).
• Seed word — the long word that the first two short words (A and B) must anagram together to form. The seed word need not be in the wordlist.
• Adjacency filters — optionally block candidate words that share a run of letters (n-gram) or a matching prefix/suffix with a nearby word, to keep pairings from feeling like near-duplicates.
• Check 2 steps ahead — the candidate list typically only checks that a selection will not immediately dead-end the next step. Turning this on checks one step further, catching a few more dead ends at the cost of slower computation.

3. Press START, then build the loop

The first step asks you to choose A and B — a pair of short words that together anagram to your seed word. Every step after that asks for one more short word that bridges the previous word into a new long word. The final step closes the loop: it connects the previous word and back with word A.

Reading the candidates panel

• Each row shows short word → long word. Click anywhere on a row to pick it.
• If a short word has more than one valid long-word match, each match gets its own row — so the same short word may appear more than once, each paired with a different long word.
• By default the list is sorted longest-short-word-first; use the sort buttons to switch to alphabetical by short or long word instead.
• Manual entry: type any word into the "Manual" box and press Use word to place it directly — it does not need to appear in the wordlist, and the program will check that it fits the length range, forms a valid pairing, and passes your quality filters and lookahead.

Autosolve

Press ⚡Autosolve Rest at any point to have the app search for a complete, valid way to finish the ring from wherever you currently are (even right at the start). It uses randomized search, so pressing it again after a search will generally try a different path and may find a different valid completion. Nothing is changed until you review the preview and press Accept — or press Try again for another attempt, or Discard to go back to picking manually. If it can't find a completion in time, that doesn't mean one is impossible — try again, or Back up a step and try from there.

Undo, Reset, and Export

↩ Back undoes your most recent pick (including an accepted Autosolve completion) one step at a time. Reset clears the whole puzzle and returns you to the setup screen. Once the loop is complete, an export box appears below the chain with the full solution as plain text, ready to copy.
